Do you remember epic fairy tales from your childhood, and wish you could reenter those magical worlds? Developer Cats Who Play hope so, with their game Fairy Tales: Three Heroes.
This demo provides you with a nice introduction to the game. It's an adventure fighting game, where you roam around completing tasks for the people you come across, and beating up baddies. Control is via the keyboard and mouse, and are fairly standard. You move your hero around with the keyboard, looking around with the mouse.
Fairy Tales: Three Heroes is really pretty. It's well animated and has excellent sound. The graphics are bold, bright and cartoon-like. The voices are good, with lots of variety. There are occasional oddities with the language, as it was translated from Russian and has a few errors. Still, this is easily forgiven with such a high standard of general presentation.
At its heart Fairy Tales: Three Heroes is basically a hack and slash game, and the combat isn't really precise. The fairy tale world it creates is not entirely original, but it's charming, and doesn't take itself seriously. In general the humor is good, even if it's badly translated!
If you're looking for a fantasy adventure with a sense of Humor, give Fairy Tales: Three Heroes a try.
